Plastic anisotropy and composite slip: Application to uranium dioxide

چکیده
The mechanical behaviour of UO2 single crystal is under debate due to the unexpected multi-slip observations in experiments that involve dislocations 12〈110〉{100} slip systems but also 12〈110〉{110} and 12〈110〉{111}. We propose a multi-scale model based on composite which, effect cross-slip, part dislocation density primary can be transferred secondary with lower propensity glide more favourable orientation regarding shear stress. This approach allows describe anisotropic response an accuracy never reached up now. After identifying relevant depending using Schmid approach, dynamics simulations are used assert if cross-slip induces quantify its flow stress which appears constrained by activity 12<110>{111} systems. In agreement this result, adapted couple common Burger vectors plasticity framework for closer comparison experiment. significantly improves our current knowledge links between microstructures properties UO2. Composite mechanism as candidate explain plastic behaviours often observed complex materials multiple modes underling activation may than usual constitutive laws.

Slip systems and plastic shear anisotropy in Mg2SiO4 ringwoodite: insights from numerical modelling
Knowledge on the deformation mechanisms of Mg2SiO4 ringwoodite is important for the understanding of flow and seismic anisotropy in the Earth’s mantle transition zone. We report here the first numerical modelling of dislocation structures in ringwoodite. The dislocation properties are calculated through the Peierls-Nabarro model using the generalized stacking fault (GSF) results as a starting m...
متن کاملconstruction and validation of translation metacognitive strategy questionnaire and its application to translation quality
like any other learning activity, translation is a problem solving activity which involves executing parallel cognitive processes. the ability to think about these higher processes, plan, organize, monitor and evaluate the most influential executive cognitive processes is what flavell (1975) called “metacognition” which encompasses raising awareness of mental processes as well as using effectiv...
Molten uranium dioxide structure and dynamics.
Uranium dioxide (UO2) is the major nuclear fuel component of fission power reactors. A key concern during severe accidents is the melting and leakage of radioactive UO2 as it corrodes through its zirconium cladding and steel containment. Yet, the very high temperatures (>3140 kelvin) and chemical reactivity of molten UO2 have prevented structural studies. In this work, we combine laser heating,...

Configurational analysis of uranium-doped thorium dioxide
While thorium dioxide is already used industrially in high temperature applications, more insight is needed about the behaviour of the material as part of a mixed-oxide (MOX) nuclear fuel, incorporating uranium. We have developed a new interatomic potential model, commensurate with a prominent existing UO2 potential, to conduct configurational analyses of uranium-doped ThO2 supercells. Using th...
